Bridget Brooks for Tualatin City Council
When I first ran for Tualatin City Council,I promised to listen, protect our community’s health & financial strength, & move forward without leaving people behind. Serving since 2019 has only deepened that commitment. I’m running for reelection because our work continues.
I became more active in the civic life of our community after the 2016 Presidential election. The then Council President suggested I run for city council. I enjoy serving & contributing to our city, representing & listening to our community. Since 2019, I have been showing up, connecting, & learning a lot.
My husband, Brian, & I have been married for 25 years. We enjoy our Westie”Koukla”, traveling, sports, & arts & culture. I’ve also practiced as a clinical & community practice social worker.
Serving on the council has deepened my faith & confidence in what our city can be & do. My hope is that-the satisfaction it brings to me is extended & demonstrated, with positive impact & care, to the community I serve.
I am seeking another term & am invested in continuing our successes as well as to tackling challenges in a way our community can be proud of. Below are some of the more prominent accomplishments I’ve helped to deliver.
- Bee City USA Certified City (bees allow us to enjoy our favorite foods)
- The Tualatin Climate Action Plan (delivering cost-saving innovations)
- IDEA Committee (Including & welcoming everybody is important to me)
- Plambeck Gardens, Housing Affordability Task Force (better housing options)
- Transportation Bond & System Plan updates (helping to make the city safer, reducing traffic congestion, & inviting ongoing public input of ideas and needs)
- Tualatin Parks & Trails Bond (upgrading & adding to existing parks and trails).
- CORA &The Veterans Plaza at the Commons (revitalizing our community & economy, honoring our vets, & moving with a 3-part public art installation crafted by renowned sculptor Douwe Blumberg)
Together, we have acted on community priorities. Voters approved transportation & parks bonds to improve safety, mobility, parks, and trails. We have supported housing options, including Plambeck Gardens. The Core Opportunity and Reinvestment Area plan, or CORA, offers a path to revitalize central Tualatin through investment, housing, riverfront connections, and welcoming public spaces. Its promise depends on community input and follow-through.
I have championed Tualatin’s Bee City USA designation and helped initiate the work behind our Climate Action Plan & its implementation.
I also urged the city to become a trauma-informed organization. That goal is now reflected in council priorities, with training intended to help us respond more effectively to people and to stress within our organization. These efforts help care for our people and our home.
We still face traffic, rising costs, & aging infrastructure. I will keep engaging, listening to you, & working together to keep Tualatin affordable & connected.
It is an honor to serve this community. I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue.
